FIRE PREVENTION & LIFE SAFETY
The Clinton County Firefighters Association and its member departments serve their local communities in northern New York, Vermont, and Quebec by promoting fire safety awareness, supporting community programs, and assisting member departments.
FIRE SAFETY AWARENESS
Keeping You Safe
The CCFA sponsors a public fire safety display at the Clinton County Fair each summer.
The CCFA is raising funds to purchase a new smoke trailer to replace the one previously used to demonstrate to adults and children how to escape from a smoke filled home or apartment.
There can be many causes for home fires. According to the US Fire Administration, the leading causes of home fires in the United States include:
1) Cooking
2) Electrical (including overloaded circuits, outlets and power strips)
3) Heating (including portable heaters and fireplace chimneys)
4) Smoking
Another growing cause of fires is batteries (including charging battery powered devices such as phones, bicycles etc.)

FIRE AND LIFE SAFETY
The CCFA works with the Office of Emergency Services and member departments to promote the use of smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors and the need to monitor these devices to ensure they remain operational.
